Greenway Moving and Storage

I have moved often over the years, including two moves between Canada and the US and back. I have had moves that didn’t go smoothly but never anything as horrendous as my experience with this company. It took 13 hours to move a three bedroom condo and they did not even move all of our belongings. They dragged it out until 1am and then gave us an invoice that was almost three times the estimate. I had to pay because they won’t unload the truck until you do. I had my most recent manifest from an international move with all the same contents, weighing just under 6000lbs but when these guys weighed the truck they said it was 10000lbs. This was a local move that included an 8 minute commute between homes and cost me $3500. They didn’t put anything where it should be, and even put our plush furniture on the soaking wet floor of their truck, without wrapping it. They took everything apart and didn’t tell us until after that it was $75/item to reassemble. They left dangerous piles of furniture and boxes everywhere. This was beyond stressful and extremely bad customer service. They has positive reviews that I doubt are even real people. Lesson learned.

When Greenway moving and all other companies contacted me I was confused and I started doing my research about all these moving companies. I only found 2 or 3 bad review about Greenway moving and told Sara ( sales agent ) that you have couple bad reviews online. With professional manner and calming tone she presented me an explanation and that they move 30 customer per week and that most happy customers don't leave a review. When they are not happy they go and leave a review. The company said we only have 2 or 3 bad reviews in many years and that sounds reasonable to me. I booked with them. They moved my 3 bedroom house with 3 professional movers. The movers were friendly and helpful during my move.
I'm only leaving this review because I promised Sara that if I'm satisfied I will write a review. They called me and remind me about this review after 1 week of the move. They are right about when people satisfied like us, they forget to leave positive review. Thank you very much guys. All the best, cheers ??

I'm a young student/professional in Toronto and I would like to warn anyone considering this company to Beware.
Greenway Moving is a scam.
I have had a very trying experience with this moving company.
Here are a listing of the issues I had with them over a 3 month period.

1] This company refuses to provide its customers with a move in time until the day before their big move.
As a result my move date had to be changed because Greenway unable to give me a morning appointment the day before my move. The lack of organization this shows of a moving company was astounding and incredibly inconvenient - I had to take two days off work to convenience them.

2] After they packed our stuff in a truck they came back inside and told us that the cost of the move would be Double their original quote and tried to force us to sign a contract to pay $700 extra. The funny thing was that they had not even weighed our belongings yet - when we asked them the total weight that said their best guess was 3,000 lbs [it was not]. This was one of the many manipulations they tried with use throughout this whole move.

3] After they had left they gave us a call & told us that our stuff was being held in a warehouse, and that we had to pay double our original quote in order to have our stuff delivered - otherwise our stuff would be held indefinably by them. This order of payment was not ever mentioned to us, and was not written anywhere in our confirmation email.

3] When we confronted them as to why they had doubled the price Greenway Moving was unable to break down the cost and explain why the original quote had been doubled. As a result they reduced our rate - although they refused to apologize and still continued to blame us for changing our moving date [which they had forced us to do because they had made an error in our booking]

4] They showed up late for pick -up and delivery and blamed us for not paying them before arrival.
When they arrived for delivery they tried to make us sign a second contract to add $200 extra onto our bill because it was a long walk to our condo - a fee that had not been mentioned to us anywhere on our quote or invoice.

In conclusion, this company is a complete sham which lacks any professionalism - any wise movers please be wary.

Coming away from this experience I feel like they should have paid me, and not the other way around - for all the stress they caused. At every opportunity they tried to manipulate us into paying extra fees. Their staff appeared friendly at first but were all miserable humans I've realized after trying to deal with them in a professional manner over these past three month.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1150

It was very stressful times, waiting for closing date,choosing the movers and ofcours the move itself. We had to go through all the quotes and we are glad we went with Greenway Moving. The movers who came for our move were very personable and polite. We had so much stuff and we needed extra packaging. The guys knew exactly what they were doing, they were very professional and quick. Even though it took us all day to move, everything went smooth and the price was on point.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2170

DONT I REPEAT DONT USE THESE MOVERS. Broke antique furniture, HUGE holes in wood. They are UNPROFESSIONAL MOVERS. Throw furniture in truck. I HAVE A CAMERA ON MY HOUSE AND I AM SEEING A LAWYER. NICOLE AND SARAH LIES ABOUT THEIR SERVICE. Please innocent people don't book them if you care about your belongings.

They sent a small truck and 3 guys. The loader was [EDIT] and couldn't understand about careful. I called NICOLE who said I will call them to be more careful. NEVER DID CALL.

SMOKED every 15 minutes. No matching shirts. THE STOLE OUR LADDER.

3 guys brought no food or water. One guy puking in my front yard.

NIGHTMARE. DONT USE. LAWYER WILL LOOK AFTER THESE PEOPLE.

Will provide pictures of these people loading my grandparents furniture that I cherished and now garbage.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3400

I don't know where to start I sent out an email re moving costs and companies , several companies gave me quotes based on a 2 bedroom bungalow, single guy not a lot of furniture.
An agent from Greenway contacted me mark I think was his name re cost and estimate of around 900 dollars, his comment was he always over estimates weight, what a joke.
I spoke with Sarah and Nicole who work in the office who were both very sweet and I enjoyed dealing with them.
The movers came as requested movers were very good, took most of a day to move small place. Once truck loaded was told most likely 15000 pounds two bedroom bungalow remember. But truck not
weighed as yet.
A day or two later got bill for 4100 dollars big jump for 900. Was told we had agreed to 15000 by signing paper at end of move we thought it was to say move done, our mistake we didn't read more careful. I call company asked why truck not weighed said they didn't because we agreed to weight,i demand it be weighed had to pay close yo 600 dollars to have it weighted and also if you use visa they charge a huge percentage 15 percent I think, watch out for this company. They weight so they say went from 15000 pound to 9000 thst is if they really weighed it, never saw a scale weight.
They did store furniture for us three weeks for free but on delivery date furniture and boxes looked like they had been a war. A new table and coffee table had huge dents on sides and large 60 tv no longer works
I was told I could file a claim which I did, they investigated and estimated by weight is how they estimate that a table and coffee table as per weight.60 per pound would be 120 dollars and besides they have a 500 deductible per item so we get nothing guess we owe them money. This is first and last time we will ever use this company beware of the small print please read everything before you hire a moving company please.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2600

Our belongings arrived but not all of them. Missing was 2 boxes of kitchen dishes, one side railing to an antique bed, lets for a table..the list goes on. It took me a month to get fully unpacked so I did email them and say things were missing and that I would wait til unpacked to file. Little did I know you just fully unpack in a very short time frame to fill out a report and when you do you receive a form letter back saying claim denied. Thats it, that's the end. Also, only two gentlemen showed up to unload my belongings and I had to help, they were not happy or polite. They were also subcontracted not the company I hired which was Moon Star Van Lines. I hope you have better luck.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4154

These guys were absolutely fantastic. They came to my home, wrapped all of my furniture with speed and precision as well as my baby grand piano, which I was most worried about. They took great care in moving my belongings into and out of the moving vans. The fee was more than fair for the work involved. Carefully attentive movers listened to my concerns and were responsive to arrange my move. Moving is stressful and they made it less so! Thank you! I will be recommending you to everyone.

Please send the biggest thank you to the 5 gentlemen that helped me move on Friday and Saturday April 5th and 6th- pick up team was Murat, Zafer, Gyozo. Drop of team was Jim and Aslan.
I called them for moving from Woodstock On to Cornwall On. The movers showed up on time and did a great job. Professionally wrapped all of our furniture with bubble wraps and blankets. Their attitude towards their job was very positive. They done a hard job, but very smoothly. I am impressed with their working style.

I actually moved with Greenway moving last summer and I was pretty satisfied with the service but I didn't leave a review. They did a follow up with me saying they were doing follow ups with their previous customers. That being said, it reminded me that I should leave a review and let others know that the movers were great and everything was done on time. I had great moving experience. Also, I received a $50 starbucks gift card from the company and I thought it was really nice. ?

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3465

Worst move I have ever had. First they were 2 1/2 hrs late. Then they brought a truck with stuff already in it so mine would not all fit. I was told they could send another truck but the main packer said it would all fit so he didn’t call for the second truck. It took them 7 1/2 hrs to load the truck they finished at 11 pm at night. We had to drive all night to be there for 8 am for them to unload and then they were late again and didn’t show up until 10 am. It took them another 7 1/2 hours to unload. They damaged my furniture and didn’t put together the pieces that they had taken apart. There is a $500 deductible of which I was informed only after the fact and I was only given 10 days to file a claim. Most people are not totally unpacked in 10 days.

To top it all off they called me just as the moving truck finally pulled up to unload to tell me that they would not unload my stuff until I paid the bill.

I had to get a truck and trailer to drive back and pick up the balance of my stuff.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1525

I was charged a Warehouse Handling Fee (120 plus HST) which was not included in my quote, then told I had to pay for my things to be moved, but that I could call when the head officed opened on Monday; my move was on a Saturday. Head office agreed that they did not quote a Warehouse Handling Fee. I was told I needed to fill a form to get my money back. I took the time to fill out the form only to revice a response weeks after one was promised that "All moves that are not a same day or next day move are offloaded into our warehouse.." and that is why I was charged the fee.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $1000

Not honest and a lot of hidden costs. Insurance with 500$ deductible and odesn;t cover all type of furniture and damages. They give a quote which is far away from reality and if you don't pay what they want they leave with your stuff. They refuse to take you with them to weighting station and they provide false information to charge extra. They come late and they're not professional and will damage your furniture. If you take full-service expecting that you'll be treated like a king and watch them do the job while you're drinking your coffee then you're dreaming. They make a mess out of stuff and put them randomly and without being marked or secured. Be prepared to spend a night in hotel with your family if you do business with those companies.

Finally please note that they're all same company, Green Mover, Moon star van, Millenium Van, etc .. They have salespeople working on commission and each sale is actually a company! the mother of all them is Greenway moving. The sales will not answer your emails neither your phone calls once the deal is sealed and especially at the day of moving, they expect that there will be problems as usual and when you call from different number they'll pretend to be surprised and end up saying its different department and I don't have control on it..

This company Greenway Moving was hired to move my family and I from Toronto to the Windsor area. At first things seemed fine and the 2 guys were polite and quick. They had been briefed a month in advance that there was a lot of furniture for a 2bdrm apartment + storage lockers and they say they were able to accommodate this easily. I personally spoke to one of the movers and told him that most of my furniture is one of a kind and not cheap stuff that I can easily replace. Once half of the truck was filled the movers starting telling me that they will have to pack things in very tightly however they assured me that my possessions would still be protected and transported safely.

They left my apartment in Toronto about an hour before my husband and I however arrived nearly 45mins later than we did at the new location. One of the 2 movers who arrived at the house to unpack everything was a different guy than the one who loaded my items and was quite abrassive and rude, and I had to tell him repeatedly to please remove his mud-covered shoes when taking the furniture upstairs as to not track dirt all over my freshly professionally cleaned carpeting. I had to remind him of this just about every time he attempted to move a piece upstairs. Additionally I had to caution them to not smash my dressers and such into the wall as they were carrying them upstairs. Upon further investigation after they left, I noticed multiple dents and scratches along the white wood wall which was very frustrating.

The worst part of all though was that as they brought in each piece of my furniture, I noticed substantial damage to literally everything..from huge chunks of wood gouged out of my recently refinished antique hall tree and a credenza, to deep scratches in the wood of all my antique dressers (6 of them) and chipped paint to the point that I’m going to need them professionally fixed, to partially ripping off the back of my daughters desk and breaking a leg entirely off, to damaging an antique mirror beyond repair, to shattering every single glass shelf in my armoire (due to this issue of the broken glass shelves, a piece of glass became stuck in the knee of my 6 month old son who was crawling on the floor the next day which was horrible). Furthermore, when attempting to use my bbq the next day I discovered it no longer works yet was in PERFECT condition and less than a year old when we moved it from Toronto the day before. Needless to say, I am absolutely devastated at the condition of my belongings.

I must also mention that when initially loading the items in Toronto, the 2 guys seemed lucid and were very pleasant. But upon arriving at my new house in Windsor they both were visibly intoxocated, high on a stimulant-type drug to be specific. They were “sketchy”, their eyes had the appearance of someone who was on drugs, and they could barely speak. This is absolutely unacceptable on so many levels.

This move to my proverbial ‘dream home’ was supposed to be one of the happiest and most exciting times of my life but instead was an unmitigated disaster due to the mishaps and unprofessionalism of Greenway Moving.
I only gave them 1 star because I wasn’t able to give them zero. I am devastated over the damage they caused to my property and that I had to deal with people who were clearly inebriated, this was one of the worst experiences of my life.

I would not recommend Greenway Movers to ANYONE, regardless of how desperate they are or how they lure you in with reasonable rates. I would recommend any other company over them or renting a U-Haul and moving yourself. I would sooner strap my furniture to a large mule and transport it like that than use these people for anything again. Stay far away unless you don’t mind everything important and dear to you being destroyed in one way or another and having no legal recourse to rectify these enormously horrific mistakes.

Awful company who will absolutely scam and overcharge you. I had a studio/one-bedroom move from Toronto to NB. They quoted by approximately 1000lbs for the move, so while packing I weighed and recorded everything to make sure I stayed within those parameters. On the day of the move, the mover tried to offer me a flat rate of 3500 lbs. I knew this was WAY more than the weight of my things, so I declined and asked to have it weighed at a scale. I immediately emailed Greenway and asked them to contact me - but no reply for almost a week. When I finally got ahold of them, they told me the weight was 3140 lbs. I asked for scaling tickets, and after arguing with them, they finally provided me with them a day later. One looked legit, but the other way barely legible and without a timestamp. I called the scaling company - turns out they have no record of this scaling ticket, and the ticket # didn't even exist. This company overcharged me $1070. They are a disaster to deal with. You can see my full complaint on BBB to understand the magnitude of how awful this company is. If you think you will save money by booking through this company, you are unfortunately wrong. You will pay at least 2x the amount of any honest company.
